Commonwealth Ridge III

January 5, 2013

Snowshoeing with Mark.

Commonwealth Ridge is one is those trips I would repeat every year if there weren’t innumerable other trips to check out. A solo trip in February of 2010, stands out as one of my most enjoyable winter ascents ever and so I was elated to drag my big brother up once again on this crisp and clear January day (we had actually ascended the peak in 2003, but in gloomy weather conditions). We didn't go to the true summit, but even the Centre summit provides breath-taking views in every direction. As well, the cornice scenery on this peak is always stunning. Awesome!

The infamous Mount Smuts

Views from the north summit are nothing  to sneeze at!

Heading towards the true summit

Definitely one of the best ridgewalks in the Rockies

The end of the line for us. The British Military Group is amazing from this point

One great view after another on this trip
