Ha
Ling Peak II
– April 12, 2007
Mountain height:
2408 m
Elevation gain:
700+ m
Roundtrip time: 3:40
Solo scramble.
Nothing too exciting here. The best decision of the day was to ignore a suspect forecast that was predicting snow for Canmore and go to the mountains anyway. There was not a single cloud in the sky throughout the day. Perhaps on such a perfect weather day a more ambitious or adventurous objective may have been in order, but really I was only in the mood for something easy and short.
Recent snow enhanced the scenery dramatically throughout the day. The Unnamed range immediately west was particularly striking. After reaching the summit of Ha Ling Peak I continued south to the point known as Miner’s Peak and a couple of others slightly higher points further south. Unfortunately the traverse towards Lawrence Grassi looked too intense covered in snow and I decided to stop. Again the snowy scenery was the highlight of the trip.

This kinda'
reminded me of that all-too-famous shot of Lake Louise with Mount

except it's Whiteman's Pond with Unnamed behind!
