Hogarth Lakes and beyond – January 3, 2010

Snowshoeing with Mark.

Not exactly the trip I envisioned to kick off a new decade, but enjoyable nonetheless. After following the wide path to the Hogarth Lakes, we set our sights on the extension of the trip as recently outlined by Gillean Daffern. The extension was well worth some fairly intense trail-breaking to the ice climbs of Parallel Falls. We bypassed a visit to the Burstall Lakes on return, when a well broken snowshoe appeared. Taking that trail was far easier than breaking new trail to the Lakes. With less than stellar weather, getting home to watch the afternoon game of the final week of the regular NFL season had far more appeal.
