Pincher Ridge Recon. – June 29, 2008
Solo scramble.
An unexpected trip to the Castle area with Raff. Unfortunately, after my 13 hour trip on Cockscomb, the day before, I was in less than peak physical condition to try anything by the time we reached the trailhead at 3 pm. Raff went off by himself to complete Victoria Peak, while I sat in the car to recover from a nagging headache, brought on by dehydration. At 6 pm, I set out to look at the north ridge outlier of Pincher Ridge.
The 4 hour trip was tiring (because of the excessive heat, even at that time of the day), yielded no results (ie. an interesting alternate route up Pincher Ridge), and I was ravaged by mosquitoes throughout. Only some decent scenery on descent salvaged the trip.
