Mountain height: 1812 m
Elevation gain:    approximately 500 m
Ascent time:        1:30
Descent time:      1:10

Solo snowshoe.

An interesting and rewarding ascent to a great viewpoint. Snowshoes were perfect for the ascent and even better for a speedy descent, even though I took a longer alternate route. Excellent weather granted unexpectedly exceptional views of the Flathead Range. Great “bang for your buck”!

The Sun is just hitting Syncline Mountain to the left

The route ahead. No trails but travel was generally straightforward.

Syncline (right) is now getting almost full Sun

The upper section of the mountain was relatively tree-less and fun to ascend

Still fixated on Syncline

Close-up of part of the Flathead Range and the faint Moon. Mount Darrah at the left.

Hillcrest, Crowsnest, and Turtle to the northwest

The three summits of Syncline again! The highest is the one at the right.

Summit cairn

Old, dead tree and the view to the west

Mount McGladrey just left of centre and a higher unnamed peak at the right

Three unnamed peaks south of Darrah

Mount Darrah is always an impressive sight

The peak at the right is higher than most peaks of the Flathead massif but doesn't get a name

Centre Mountain at the left and one of its many outliers

The Livingstone massif. Livingstone South in the centre and Centre Peak at the right.

Flat prairies to the easy

Another tree that I became fixated with

And a third one!

Looking back up my descent route that was slightly different that the ascent

Similar view to the morning one

Pleasant winter-like travel to end a great day out

The End
